My name is Valentine. I lived in Rome during the third century. That was long, long ago! At that time, Rome was ruled by an emperor named Claudius. I didn't like Emperor Claudius, and I wasn't the only one! A lot of people shared my feelings.

Claudius wanted to have a big army. He expected men to volunteer to join. Many men just did not want to fight in wars. They did not want to leave their wives and families. As you might have guessed, not many men signed up. This made Claudius furious. So what happened? He had a crazy idea. He thought that if men were not married, they would not mind joining the army. So Claudius decided not to allow any more marriages. Young people thought his new law was cruel. I thought it was preposterous! I certainly wasn't going to support that law!

Did I mention that I was a priest? One of my favourite activities was to marry couples. Even after Emperor Claudius passed his law, I kept on performing marriage ceremonies -- secretly, of course. It was really quite exciting. Imagine a small candlelit room with only the bride and groom and myself. We would whisper the words of the ceremony, listening all the while for the steps of soldiers.

One night, we did hear footsteps. It was scary! Thank goodness the couple I was marrying escaped in time. I was caught. (Not quite as light on my feet as I used to be, I guess.) I was thrown in jail and told that my punishment was death.

I tried to stay cheerful. And do you know what? Wonderful things happened. Many young people came to the jail to visit me. They threw flowers and notes up to my window. They wanted me to know that they, too, believed in love.

One of these young people was the daughter of the prison guard. Her father allowed her to visit me in the cell. Sometimes we would sit and talk for hours. She helped me to keep my spirits up. She agreed that I did the right thing by ignoring the Emperor and going ahead with the secret marriages. On the day I was to die, I left my friend a little note thanking her for her friendship and loyalty. I signed it, "Love from your Valentine."

I believe that note started the custom of exchanging love messages on Valentine's Day. It was written on the day I died,February 14, 269 A.D. Now, every year on this day, people remember. But most importantly, they think about love and friendship. And when they think of Emperor Claudius, they remember how he tried to stand in the way of love, and they laugh -- because they know that love can't be beaten!

me and my relatives (helmy,tina and her sis) went to wen's house on 29th january,at 5pm for chinese new year ^^ i promised wen and lee jing to come,so yes,i kept my promise ^^

my parents came along as well and became good friends with wen's parents,wow x3 turns out that my parents know wen's grandpa very well from long time ago..(dnt know how long) =3

we ate a lot of chocolate cakes and cheesecakes,yummy,my fav. x3 wen's sister is very nice,funny and very friendly ^^ we chat a lot on that day and took some pictures ^^V

after that we (together with wen) went to lee jing's house and continued our cny over there x3 well,it is not that surprising when lee jing served us a 'drink' because we requested for one when we were at wen's house x3 turned out all of us couldn't finish the 'drink' because lee jing served so many in one glass x_x but thanks lee jing =3 and sorry we couldn't finish them x_x

then we (together with wen n lee jing) went to chia wei's house ^^ we were very scared of the dogs at first because we thought that the dogs were fierce and might bite us but then...

happy chinese niu year to my relatives and friends ^^

i had a lot of fun this chinese new year 2009 ^^ dnt know how to explain it ^^

but then...

this chinese new year i missed my nieces a lot T_T chinese new year is not the same without you girls... T_T the house felt so empty without the two of you,miss your laugther and miss taking photos with both of you =( but we will meet again right? ^^ love you girls ^^V




i passed my driving test!!! yeaaayyyy!! finally i have my own driving license and now i can go anywhere i want!!!!! XD x3 thanks to my driving sir for teaching me and being a very patient person despite the fact that i always whine and asked a lot about driving stuffs every now and then for the last 10 hours XD oh yes,i forgot to mention...

to sir;

I WILL DEFINITELY DRIVE AN AUTO CAR!!!!!! XD i told you before,after i passed my test,i will ignore manual car and i mean it,LoL XD sorry~~^^V goodbye manual car and helloooooo auto car!! XD




On the Christmas Eve,24/12,we held a surprise birthday party for my little nephew^^ he was about to cry when we said,'SURPRISE!!' then we sang a Happy Birthday song to him and presented the birthday cake in the middle of the night^^ the guests were shocked too XD a very sweet 11th years old indeed for him,a very memorable event^^


CHRISTMAS DAY!!! it was very fun indeed^^ me and my family celebrated the wonderful day at my home,CHRISTMAS PARTY!!! we invited all our relatives and had such a great night^^ we played bouncer and also held a dance party X) we danced all night long XD back to the bouncer part,we booked it especially for Christmas and guess what? it was raining heavily on that day,but it won't stop us from playing it!! XD so of course,the next day,a sort of memory lost,our muscles were in pain,some got sick and yes,SLEEPY x.x






finally,the car engine no longer die at the junction x3 i did it ^^ but yet again...the car engine died when i did this 'balancing' stuff,it was so complicated x.x and also,i learned how to park a car today,it was very exhausting,twist the steering here and there 360 degrees x.x






time really went by sooo fast and IT IS!! x( i looked at the calendar and there it was showing the date that today was 13/12...almost in the middle of the month...holiday looks like going to end anytime soon...which i don't even want! Then,when i was checking through my school bag,i saw piles of homework to do this holiday (i really don't want to do them x.x) i want to enjoy more more more x.x (sounds desperate isn't it? '-_-)

next thing is,my brother and sister including my niece are going to Hong Kong this 25th and celebrate x'mas in Disneyland =3 i hope they will buy me a lot of souvenirs and some cute sleeveless clothes and gowns perhaps? =3

so,i was chatting with my cousin last time and she told me that she will be going to France (was it?) for her winter break and then go to London to meet with my other cousin there^^ they are both staying in England for their study =3 so i guess,maybe next year i will drop by England in December to meet and hang out with you girls if i have nothing in the way (can't promise yet x.x) missing you girls x3

x'mas celebration is not really that happening in here,i wish i was in Singapore and celebrate x'mas there because a lot of stuffs going on, performances, dances, games etc really can feel the x'mas vibe in there x3 missing Singapore indeed x3 maybe next time~ x.x
